Ross Louangsignotha – Journey through Laos: A Family-Style Meal - June 12

Chef Ross Louangsignotha draws from the vibrant flavors of his Laotian heritage to create contemporary dishes rich with family tradition. For this special evening, the menu will be served family style, an unforgettable culinary journey to share.

Born in Montreal to Laotian parents, Ross Louangsignotha grew up immersed in the authentic tastes of traditional home cooking, lovingly passed down by his mother. This early passion set him on a diverse culinary path, starting in the busy kitchens of a sushi restaurant and later at the acclaimed Mikado, where he honed his skills in Japanese cuisine.

After a decade of hands-on experience, Ross pursued formal training at the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec, followed by a formative internship with Michelin-starred chef Xabi Ibarboure in the French Basque Country. Returning to Quebec, he worked alongside notable chefs like David Biron and Alexandre Gosselin, before refining his craft at Juni under Junichi Ikematsu. His journey also took him to the Turks and Caicos Islands, where he contributed to the launch of a Japanese brasserie.

In 2014, Ross became the executive chef at Hà on Montreal’s Mont-Royal Avenue. Inspired by Hong Hà Nguyen, he celebrates contemporary Vietnamese cuisine while honoring the rich flavors of Southeast Asia. Hà now occupies the former Souvenir d’Indochine space, paying homage to a treasured Vietnamese culinary legacy reimagined for modern Quebec palates.
